How much do SIPs cost?

This question has often been posed as, “How much do SIPs save?” It is impossible to give an exact formula for how much SIP’s cost because of constant changes in the construction industry, in raw material costs and in general market fluctuations. What we do know, and can say, is that SIP packages combined with the labor savings of short construction times, are somewhat equal to the initial cost of building a home through traditional methods.

However, because of dramatically lower energy and maintenance costs saved over the lifetime of the house, the cost of ownership is much lower. The value that you will receive for every dollar you spend is higher, much higher. The resale and equity value in your home will be consistently higher. The cost to our environment which we all care about, is much lower.

Here are the areas SIPS save money

  • Heating Cooling System – ie downsizing the tonnage for a heat pump by around half on a house with average glazing.
  • Monthly operating costs to heat and cool your structure
  • Higher Resale Values ( Green and energy efficient homes are easier to sell in the Real Estate market)
  • Reduced subcontractor labour costs
  • Reduced bridge financing cost as structure is finished and erected quicker than conventional framing

These are the areas sips can cost money

  • Wider door and window jambs
  • Our houses are engineered to the highest standards of seismic rating available and since there is no enforced standard to what degree a house is seismically engineered there can be an additional cost in comparison to building a regular house.
